Honestly, I think the attempt to characterise "Islamophobia" as a type of racism is just an attempt to shut down criticism of Islam and Islamism in the most comprehensive and final way the Islamists and their left-wing allies can think of.

How can it be racism? Islam is not a race. You can convert to or from Islam. What other races can you convert to or from? It may be bias, but it's not racist bias. And, there are things that might make one biased against Islam.....eg: Fundamentalist jihadi Muslims are responsible for many atrocities. The destruction of the World Trade Center, the attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester England in 2017, the attack at a Boston Marathon in 2013, an attack at a disco in Bali in 2002, to name just a few of the major ones, and the attacks on Malala Yousafzai, Salman Rushdie, Theo Van Gogh in 2004, and Charlie Hebdo in 2015, again, just to name a few of the smaller ones. Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and others are violent jihadi Muslim groups, bent on killing Jews and destroying Israel. Boko Haram and Al Shabab kill Christians in Africa. There are other Islamic Jihadi groups killing non-Muslims in India and Pakistan, Afghanistan, the Philippines and elsewhere. To point this out is not being biased, but reflects being aware.
